There’s a little bit of news in these parts.
Last week, I agreed to terms with AMG Media Group, a local media investment group, to acquire CVObserver. While there are a few remaining Is to dot and Ts to cross to complete this acquisition, for all intents and purposes CVO has new owners.
As part of the transition, I will be stepping aside as publisher of CVObserver.
Thankfully, some new blood is coming into the fold. Jim Verros, a name well-known to folks who tune into KMJ and KSEE 24, is joining the CVO stable as Editor-At-Large.
Along with taking on some new initiatives at CVObserver, Jim will be working to bring in a bevy of new voices contributing here.
Meanwhile, the same quality of reporting on the people and politics of Fresno, courtesy of George Hostetter (or as we’ve dubbed him: The GHost), will continue.
Two years, I started CVObserver on a whim, in the hopes of expanding an ever-contracting view of local public affairs. Hundreds of thousands of clicks later, CVObserver became must-read material from newsrooms to halls of power.
I wager that our public officials and public institutions, from school districts to City Hall, and have seldom been under stronger magnifying glasses. I’m perhaps proudest about that.
And while we have travelled a great distance in two years, the best is yet to come here at CVObserver.
Thank you for your loyal readership and – as always – stay tuned.
