Fresno County Board of Supervisors candidate Steve Brandau has been endorsed by the Fresno Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee.

Brandau currently is president of the Fresno City Council. He represents Council District 2. He is seeking the District 2 Supervisorial seat formerly held by Andreas Borgeas, who was elected to the state Senate in November.

Said Chamber President/Chief Executive Nathan Ahle in a written statement:

“Our organization is proud to support Councilmember Brandau in his bid to become a County Supervisor. During his time in office Steve Brandau has proven to be a strong voice for business. We are confident he will continue improving Fresno County’s business climate and helping to create jobs throughout our community.”

Brandau in a text message to me said: “As a small business owner myself it is great to get the endorsement from the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.”

Brandau said he has also been endorsed by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims; the Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association; the Fresno County Public Safety Association; the Fresno County Prosecutors’ Association; Fresno Mayor Lee Brand; Fresno City Council Members Garry Bredefeld, Luis Chavez and Paul Caprioglio; former Fresno City Council Members Oliver Baines and Clint Olivier; current Assembly Member and former Fresno Mayor Jim Patterson; former Fresno Mayor Alan Autry; and State Senator Borgeas.

Brandau’s opponents in the March 5 special election are small business owner Steve Hosey and marketing/communications director Nasreen Michelle Johnson.

The Supervisors District 2 area consists largely of Northwest Fresno (which Brandau represents at City Hall) and Northeast Fresno (represented by Bredefeld). There also is a slice of Clovis in Supervisors District 2 as well as a sizeable piece of Central Fresno (bounded by Shaw Avenue, First Street, Shields Avenue and West Avenue).

In addition to economic development, Brandau in his six years on the City Council has made a priority of water, public safety and transportation issues.
