Fresno City Council member Steve Brandau isn’t one to shy away from contentious debate.
During Fresno’s general plan update, Brandau took a shellacking for challenging Mayor Ashley Swearengin and revitalization supporters by alleging that those trying to control and redirect Fresno’s growth were “pansies.”
This time, he’s taking aim at Gov. Jerry Brown’s cherished, and largely flawed, high-speed rail program.
Brandau bought billboard ad space on Highway 99 in Northwest Fresno to send a huge message:

Brandau’s Dam Train ad campaign is aimed to push Gov. Brown into investing in water storage instead of the multi-billion-dollar rail program.
Brandau set up a website – DamTrain.com – and even a Facebook page to promote the campaign.
With no end in sight for the drought (and plunging popularity for HSR), #DamTrain might just catch on as a good rallying cry for Californians.
